Sarah Showich (they/she) is a metro-Detroit born and Los Angeles-based Director / Dramaturg for the stage and screen. Sarah has a passion for developing new work that explores universal, intimate relationships that will inspire lively conversation on the way home.

Directing Theater, previous credits include productions Memory Lane is a Desert Road (Eight Ball Theater), Dr. Mr. Science Boy (The Blank Theater), and Fun Home (Music Theater Repertory). Sarah has also recently directed Staged Readings of Buck V. Bell by Gabie Faulkner and We Pump Your Gas in Jersey by Makeda M. Declet as a part of Eight Ball Theater’s Annual Staged Reading Festival. They have been lucky to learn through recent Associate/Assistant Directing work with Jo Bonney, Peter Rothstein, and Nico Pang.

As a Dramaturg/Literary Leader, Sarah has been the Literary Manager at Eight Ball Theater since 2025. Sarah recently developed new plays with Playwrights Amari Amai, Astrid Solace, Cris Eli Blak, Dom Martello, Dylan Malloy, Eka Savajol, Habib Yazdi, Kamila Boga, Kate McMorran, Nabra & Michael Nelson, and Makeda M. Declet. Sarah has developed New Work with Geffen Playhouse, Launchpad at UCSB, Eight Ball Theater, Celebration Theater, The Blank Theater, and Rally Cat Theater.

Directing Film, sophomore short film, In the Dark (2025), wrapped production on 16mm last spring and will have its World Premiere at the Kodak-Sponsored ASCF Film Festival in September 2026. Their debut, Me and You (2023) premiered at Austin Micro Film Festival and won Best Relationship Drama.

Sarah is an alumni of the University of Southern California’s School of Dramatic Arts & School of Cinematic Arts.
